Lizzy McAlpine’s music is perfect for nesting in cosy bedrooms, and has done so for quite a few folk-pop lovers over the past few years, as the 24-year-old songwriter's fame has grown mainly through TikTok and Instagram. Despite the small screen on which the videos were shown, the love for her songs of integrity and fragility was instantaneous. Debut album ‘Give Me a Minute’ was released in 2020, and that year unfortunately brought few opportunities to bring the music to a live audience. Therefore, the impact of follow-up ‘Five Seconds Flat’ was all the greater, with 14 songs about broken hearts, wrapped in fragile melodies and honest emotional outbursts. Lizzy can now call Phoebe Bridgers and John Mayer as fans of hers, and in the meantime worked with Finneas, Noah Kahan and Niall Horan. The song ‘ceilings’ became the heartbreak song of a generation.
