tjels is an artist with a passion for telling stories through music. She searches for the balance between vulnerability and strength, with her songs reflecting personal experiences and a search for meaning.
Under the alternative name CHELS, the 23-year-old singer debuted in May 2022 with her single 'The Puppet' on the program POP22 Matthijs Gaat Door. A live session on NPO Radio 2 and 3voor12 Radio quickly followed which soon saw tjels open for international acts Patrick Watson, Agnes Obel and Barbara Pravi in the Amsterdam Bostheater. Realising she wasn’t fully formed yet, tjels retreated into her cocoon to continue herself development and metamorphose.
2 years later tjels emerges fully formed, with a clear understanding where she wants to root herself in the chaos of the world. With a treasure trove of new music, she plans to record her first full body of work with long time collaborators Simon Leferink and Serge Desault in the shape of a 5 track EP. Recording will take place in May 2025 with a first single planned for late summer.
