After the success of her debut album Als Ik Met De Wind Kon Dansen, Bente is back with a brand-new album: drift. With drift, Bente takes you on a nostalgic journey to the carefree years of her youth, exploring themes such as love, the fear of loss, and the uncertainty of how others perceive her. About drift, Bente says: “This album feels like pure energy and longing – a kind of homesickness for the time when everything was still possible. It’s a collection of all my emotions; a snapshot that I hope to look back on later and think: this is how I felt back then. drift reminds me to let myself be carried away by whatever life brings.”
Over the past year and a half, Bente has worked hard to develop her own unique sound, collaborating with producers Lennard Vink, Freez, and Wannes Salomé. The result? An honest and raw album, partly recorded in the Ardennes and partly in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. drift features twelve new tracks, including Wie is Zij with Roxeanne Hazes, kennen ze mij, zonder handen rijden, and ik heb je zo gemist, with contributions from artists such as Mathieu Terryn of Bazart.
Bente has been in the spotlight from a young age. At just eleven years old, she discovered her passion for music, quickly shining in shows like The Voice Kids and De Wereld Draait Door. The documentary Bente’s Stem captured her musical journey, and her breakthrough came with the hit Liefste, Ken Je Mij. With subsequent EPs, she cemented her place in the Dutch music scene. A milestone was the release of her debut album Als Ik Met De Wind Kon Dansen on November 11, 2022, a date symbolizing her fascination with the number 11. This album revealed a mature side of Bente, featuring collaborations with Typhoon, Tim Knol, and Meau. Later, she worked with Maan and Ronnie Flex and delivered an impressive rendition of Zeg Maar Niets Meer in the program Hazes Is De Basis.
With her new album drift, Bente toured the Netherlands and Belgium this fall, offering a platform to emerging talent through TikTok. Now, with 2025 on the horizon, the future looks bright, with even more exciting things to come.
